House 242

If one looks for an example of how to “do church” in the Bible, we find in Acts 2:42 the model church we aspire to be. Seeking the leading of the Holy Spirit, the people are obedient in using the spiritual gifts given to them. They diligently continue to “devote themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer.”

‍House 242 Church is built on the foundation that our life is most lived to the full by believing the Gospel. And the Gospel is the good news that Jesus has overcome sin and death through his own death and resurrection and now is making all things new, even us. We want to live that out in everyday life and share the truth of Jesus with everyone.

To show others where hope resides and to live life abundantly with the Holy Spirit.

MISSION STATEMENT

In 2024, House 242 will grow in the power of the Holy Spirit. We will commit to daily prayer, reading The Word, and sharing the gospel with our lives.

2024 VISION STATEMENT

Our Values:

Family Focused:

We love family and recognize that a big focus of life is toward keeping our own families united and strong. As believers, we are also adopted into a heavenly family that relies on each other and shares in life together.

Bible Centered:

We believe the Bible is God's word and the foundation for all that we do. We acknowledge the importance of being taught the value of its truth, and being able to apply that truth in practical ways in everyday life.

Spirit Led:

We believe that the Holy Spirit desires us to experience an abundant life with Jesus. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is at work in us, and we can experience that power today.

How we live out these values:

We gather together, are intentional with each other, hold each other accountable, and walk through life together reminding each other that we are children of God. We share the gospel of Jesus and make disciples together.

We Believe:

Salvation:

The shed blood of Jesus Christ on the cross provides the sole basis for forgiveness of sins and salvation, which is the free gift of God’s grace. Salvation is affected by the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit and cannot be secured by man’s works or personal merit. Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone in Christ alone. We believe that all who trust Jesus Christ for salvation are eternally secure in Him and shall not perish but have everlasting life.

The Godhead:

We believe in one true God eternally existing in three distinct persons (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) each of Whom is fully and equally God. All of the divine nature and attributes are worthy of our worship and service.

God the Father:

God the Father reigns with providential care over His creation and through His sovereignty guides the course of human history according to the purposes of His grace and will. God is Father and truth to those who become children of God through faith in His only begotten son, Jesus Christ.

God the Son:

We believe that Jesus Christ is the second person of the Trinity and is the only begotten eternal Son of God Who became flesh to reveal God to man, to fulfill prophecy, and to become the Savior of the lost world. In becoming man, Jesus did not cease in any way to be God so that He is fully God and fully man inseparably united in one person forever. He was miraculously conceived by the Holy Spirit; born of the virgin Mary; lived a sinless life; died on the cross as the substitutionary, all-sufficient atoning sacrifice for the sins of man. His body was buried, He rose from the dead and through His resurrection, provided to all who believe in Him eternal life.

God the Holy Spirit:

We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity. He dwells in every believer at the moment of conversion, and by His baptism unites all to Christ in one body. The Holy Spirit is the Indwelling One, the source of spiritual gifts and all acceptable worship and service. We believe that He never departs from believers but is ever present to testify of Christ.

The Scriptures:

We believe that "all Scripture is given by inspiration of God,” by which we understand the whole Bible is inspired in the sense that holy men of God “were moved by the Holy Spirit” to write the very words of Scripture. We believe that the Scriptures are the inherent, infallible authoritative word of God. God has supernaturally preserved the Bible, and it is the sole and final authority for faith and life, providing encouragement, guidance, comfort and instruction for training in righteousness.
